Real Dan Lyons, formerly not known and then ultimately unmasked as Fake Steve Jobs, is apparently abandoning his personal blog at RealDanLyons.com. Why? Seems his real bosses at Newsweek didn't much cotton to a post in which Real Dan called the real public relations professionals at Yahoo "lying sacks of," ahem, think manure.
Jordan Golson of The Industry Standard, a Network World corporate cousin, has all the delicious dirt, including a tangential rant by Lyons ripping into the Wall Street Journal's Kara Swisher, who I've always found to be nothing but delightful when speaking in public.
Why would Lyons have written such a nasty thing about Yahoo? Well, it seems as though the company's flacks had only a month ago assured him that a) the Microsoft/Yahoo deal was a sure thing; and, b) that Jerry Yang wasn't going anywhere.
There isn't a journalist alive who hasn't wanted to write what Lyons wrote.
When not blogging, I am a Network World news editor and write the 'Net Buzz column.
The opinions expressed in this Weblog are those of the writer and may not represent the opinions of Network World.
