There have been builds of Fennec and they've been released on the N810.
The news is that Mozilla is confirming a release date for the alpha code -- the week of 10 October --initiating a period of intensive and more extensive experimentation of the mobile browser by Mozilla community members. Provided, you have a Nokia N810.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the uptake is and the feedback when the alpha version for Windows Mobile makes its appearance later this year.
