is the single or dual-mode phone issue just a footnote?

Why has the single or dual-mode phone issue been left behind as a mere footnote element? If I am not mistaken the ratio of dual-mode to single-mode cellular phones is probably 1 to 4 or 5. So why is the article just discussing femtocell technology vs UMA technology? What about data services? Why isn't there a discussion in the article about the capabilities or the lack thereoff of UMA technology in enabling Internet browsing for instance on cellular phones?

when u discussed about dual mode, which technologies are you referring to: UMA or IMS VCC?

I believe most of the deployment in the market are UMA for Mobile operator. Can you also discuss and provide some view on the IMS VCC technologies and deployment comparatively?

FMC doesn't compete with femtos

Interesting that you say "FMC users, of course, must have dual-mode cellular/Wi-Fi phones". FMC, though, does not have to equal Wi-Fi, nor be dependent on it. Wi-Fi and femtos are used for mobile coverage & improving access, but shouldn't be confused with converging fixed and mobile networks. There was actually an announcement this week by Tango, AirWalk & Tatara for an enterprise FMC femtocell solution:
