This product uses a web interface and does load banner ads but is not ADWARE as mentioned in this article. Is this website ADWARE because it has ads? No.
This is a great product with a unique business operation generating revenue through ads. They absolutely listen to their customers in a timely manner and get us the features we need most as IT managers.
The product is built on open source technologies and performs well on a server as well as desktop. I personally prefer it run on a server.
This product simply put makes IT managers life much easier!

Spiceworks is a great FREE product!
We are a small business with a tight budget and Spiceworks has been a blessing. Would be ideal for small charities, churches, and schools with growing networks. I do not mind a measly banner ad in the console. Nice to see Network World cover something that is both useful and free.
