What about the content adaptation services?

0

You fail to even mention the fact that there are also companies in the mobile space providing "content adaptation and transcoding" services to WAP and xHTML web browsers. This is done at the gateway servers, not as clients on the devices. There are several relevant companies: Openwave's OpenWeb (on Sprint), InfoGin (on some Verizon devices), Novarra, and others. You should do a follow-up article comparing these companies offerings, as they have some relevance until the whole world owns an iPhone.
