FMC, a hot area for startups and for Cisco

In February a slew of FMC products were announced at GSMA's Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona. Companies with new and cool FMC products included NeuStar, NetIndex, Movial. Now, via Interop, add Agito Networks to the mix. This is an interesting entry because Agito is gunning for the enterprise with FMC.

To win enterprise interest it is adding support for Microsoft Active Directory -- and that makes good sense. It is also tacking on integration with Cisco’s Unified Wireless Network product line, in particular tying in its location-aware methodology with Cisco’s Radio Resource Management technology. But Cisco itself has just sprung into action in the FMC market. On April 1, Cisco announced a Linksys router for mobile operators, the WRTU54G. The WRTU54G is being tested by T-Mobile USA in limited markets to support T-Mobile @Home service.
